Bring In. Build Up. Send Out.

What We Believe

At Mayfield First United Methodist Church we are Christians who put our faith, hope and trust in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We are a part of the United Methodist Church, which is the second largest protestant denomination in America today.  We have a proud heritage and history in this country.  We began as a renewal society in the 1730's in England by two brothers and priests in the Church of England, John and Charles Wesley.  In short order there were Methodist societies all over the United Kingdom, the American Colonies, and mainland Europe.  In 1784, after the United States gained its independence, we were formed into the Methodist Episcopal Church of America.

While our denominational name may have changed, our core beliefs have not.  We proudly stand in the historic tradition of the Church.

The challenge for any church is to make sure the present generation understands that historic tradition of faith that has been handed down to us from the first Apostles until today.  In order to do this, we at Mayfield First United Methodist Church make it a little easier to communicate who we are to the community around us.

We exist to:

Bring In.  Build Up.  Send Out.

We are here to Bring In new people and introduce them to Jesus Christ.  We are here to Build Up all who come so they can move to deeper and deeper levels in their relationship with God.  And we are here to Send Out ourselves and our resources into the mission field, both around the corner and around the world, so that even more people might hear the Good News that God is still redeeming, healing, saving, and restoring humanity and all of creation.
